oddest job: writing RFPs for an engineering company.  I mean, really.

odd job training: being a hostess at Tutto Mare restaurant was the perfect microcosm for producing parties. You want everyone to be happy to make a success – guests, servers, bartenders, chefs, and busboys... oh, and maybe managers...

pet peeves and party passions: the right lighting and sound are key to a warm, inviting event. Candles make everything better. Silence is death, especially when only a few early guests have arrived. Music should be just the right vibe for the mood of the crowd. And not too loud. Don't skimp on speakers – they spread the sound more evenly and you don't have to blast out one side of the party. If you have to run out of anything, make sure it’s not booze. Never underestimate staff that works hard and smiles throughout. Tipping is goodly karma, indeed.

writing tips: a little bit of cheeky goes a long way. Sometimes wine makes the writing better. But sometimes it just makes it slower.

favorite store: Trader Joe's, Williams Sonoma, anyone carrying Nike Tennis Gear...
